void.sessions (Official FR)
Pure instant. Volatile code.
void.sessions is a collective meeting and improvisation project inspired by the “Blank Pages” protocol of the 2010s.
Presented by Structure Void, this free and open event aims to engage the community of artist-programmers around a radical practice of live-patching with Max (Max/MSP).
The Intention
At a time when creative environments are saturated with pre-established structures and “turnkey” solutions, we often lose sight of the original plasticity of code. void.sessions proposes a clean break from this digital comfort.
By reactivating the “Blank Pages” protocol, we place the artist in front of a blank page with no history or safety net. Here, the absence of saving is not a technical constraint, but an act of aesthetic resistance: that of radical impermanence. Nothing is prepared in advance, nothing is stored for later. Only the raw act of programming remains, shared in real-time with the other participants and the audience.
More than a simple performance, it is an open-air laboratory designed by Structure Void. By making the internal architecture of systems (patches) visible and opening the listening experience beyond the circle of initiates, we transform the programming process into an object of collective contemplation. It is a necessary visibility space for the local scene, where technique fades behind organic dialogue, restoring to the Max tool its primary function: that of a pure and unpredictable instrument of improvisation.
The Protocol
Rule 01: Language
Exclusive use of the Max environment (Max/MSP).
Rule 02: Timeframe
A session lasts exactly 60 minutes.
Rule 03: Zero
Mandatory start from a blank programming page.
Rule 04: Volatility
Strictly forbidden to save or load files/abstractions, or any other program, during the session.
The Audience Experience
void.sessions is a transparent situation.
The audience is invited to inhabit the space, to listen to the evolution of the sound and visual flow, but also to observe the participants’ screens to grasp the construction logic in real-time.
